Despite its challenges, 2013 provided lots of opportunities for photography in some amazing places. A 10,000km road trip from California to the Yukon and back again was the adventure of a lifetime. I thought that before we get too far into 2014, I would share some of my personal favourites from last year.
Triple Falls in Oregon was well worth the hike in.
I’ve always wanted to see the giant redwoods in California – and they did not disappoint!
One of my favourite days was when we visited Bodie Ghost Town in California. An incredibly preserved gold rush town, it is gold for photographers.. We were fortunate to be there on a day with dramatic clouds.
Much of the summer had a dreamlike quality to it….and this photo captures that feeling for me. We stumbled across a field of lupins, opened a bottle of wine and just enjoyed the summer sun. And I couldn’t resist getting out my Lensbaby.
This section of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco was opened only recently….providing great opportunities for some nighttime photography.

Probably the most stellar sunset I saw all year….in Victoria, BC
And finally, my favourite waterfall shot of the year. One of those magical places that hardly rates a mention in the guide books…but turned out to be a highlight of the trip. It can be found along the Rogue River in Oregon.
